Generation 01.05

So despite wanting to have the kiss happen again so far nothing has. At least not until today, almost a month later.

Jonathan and I were both in the field tending to the crops when Jonathan said, “So I was wondering if you wanted to maybe go to dinner and a movie tonight?”

“Like on a date?” I asked hoping the answer would be yes.

Jonathan blushed and looked back at the plant he was harvesting before saying, “Yes like a date. I would love to take you on a date.”

“I would like that,” I respond.

“Great, I will pick you up at 7 pm.”

“Sounds perfect.”

Jonathan took me to Kim Gould’s Steakhouse. One of the finest restaurants in Appaloosa Plains. The food was great and we spent the evening talking about anything and everything. I learned that Jonathan was an only child and that his parents had been killed several years ago by a drunk driver. It was that experience that made him want to become a cop so that he could help keep the streets safe. I told him about my family and showed him pictures of my niece and nephews (Mindy had twin boys).

There was a live performance that night and we had a great time.

After dinner I kissed him good night and we agreed to go out on another date soon.

Over the next several weeks we were pretty much inseparable. We enjoyed quiet evenings inside watching movies.   Some nights he would even sit with me while I watched the Gardening Network.

Once winter came we had fun outside playing in the snow.

One day Jonathan asked if I wanted to go ice skating. I said yes and we had a lot of fun spinning around on the ice together.

But then a group of kids came flying by on their skates and we both slipped and fell.

“Are you ok?” he asked.

“I’m fine. How are you?”

“I’m good. Nothing broken.”

We both sat on the ice laughing for several minutes.

I stood up but Jonathan didn’t get up right away. He was still kneeling on the ice. At first I thought maybe he was hurt after all but then I saw him pull out a ring.

“Anna Equidae, I know we haven’t been dating long but I think I fell in love with you the day I met you and I know I will love you for the rest of my life. Will you do me the honor of agreeing to be my wife?”

“Yes of course I will marry you,” I cried. “Nothing would make me happier than being your wife.”
