Generation 03.10

Having six kids in the house makes finding time to take pictures difficult so I unfortunately have very few from when Dorothy and Danielle were infants. In fact before we knew it we were having a quintuple birthday.

David turned 18 and their were so many candles on his cake that it caught fire. One of my nieces was quick on her feet and grabbed the fire extinguisher and managed to put the fire out before it caused to much damage. She was a natural – I will have to talk to her about possibly joining the fire department. We need more females on the force.

In addition to David turning 18, Diana and Dylan turned 16, and Danielle and Dorothy had their first birthday.

Having two more teenagers around the house has been a tremendous help. Diana in particular is a great help with her younger sisters. She says, “We girls gotta stick together.”

Like their older siblings Danielle and Dorothy are super smart and learned their skills in record time.

One afternoon I was fixing the toilet (the thing always seems to be overflowing) when Daniel came and told me he needed to talk to me about something.

“Dad, can I talk to you about something important?”

“Sure, you can talk to me about anything.”

“Can you promise you won’t get mad?”

“I can’t promise that but I do promise to hear you out. And even if I do get mad I will always love you. Nothing can change that.”

“Thanks, dad. I appreciate that and I love you too.”

“So what did you want to tell me?”

“I’m Gay.”

At first I was speechless as that was the last thing I was expecting him to say. I thought he was going to tell me he scratched the car or got an F in school.

“Dad, please say something.”

I pulled him into a hug and said, “I’m glad you told me. That took courage and I am proud of you.”

I went with him to tell his mother. She was surprised as well but we both just want him to be happy.

He has started seeing another boy from school named Donavon. They plan to go to Prom together. I just want Daniel to be happy and I love and support him no matter what. But I can’t help but worry about him. Kids can be cruel and I don’t want anyone bullying him and Donavon. Alison tells me not to worry so much.

It is graduation day for David. I can’t believe how fast time has gone by. He was his class valedictorian. I couldn’t be more proud.

After graduation David propose to his long time girlfriend Aileen Redmond. The two moved in together and are planning a small wedding next spring.

Romance seems to be in the air as both Dylan and Diana have started dating.

Dylan is dating a nice girl named Summer Brinkley. Oddly enough when I was his age I dated Summer’s aunt Cynthia.

Diane is dating Jayson Overton. I don’t trust that boy with his long shaggy hair. I think he is up to no good.

Of course I had to question him. “So young man, what are your plans for my daughter.”

“I am taking her to the movies, sir.”

“Let me guess so you can sit in the back in the dark and make out all night. I don’t think so.”

“No sir, I would never. We are just going to see a movie I swear.”

“Ok, but just remember I have friends in both the fire department and police force. I have people watching you.”

My wife scolded me later for frightening the boy.

Of course I had to wait up to make sure he had her home on time and that there was no kissing going on.

Soon it was time for yet another birthday party at the Equidae house. Dorothy and Danielle were getting older.

David and Aileen came and we were all thrilled to see that Aileen is expecting. I can’t wait to become a grandfather.

Dorothy grew up into a very pretty little girl. She is very smart and loves to play chess. Fortunately for her, Dylan also enjoys the game and the two spend hours playing together.

Danielle also grew up into a very pretty little girl.

She takes after her mother and older sister and loves to paint. She is only 8 and has already sold several paintings.

Daniel also grew up and graduated from high school. He and Donavon got a place together.
