My singing career quickly took off and before long I was preforming at places like the famous Hoi Polloi Events Center in front of over 10,000 people.

My manager Paul Dahlen came to every show. It was nice looking out into the crowd and seeing a friendly face.

I tried to add a lot of variety to my shows and mixed it up between dance numbers and slower ballads.

Sometimes I even brought out my guitar which my fans seemed to really enjoy. The reviews for the shows were great and I was on cloud 9.

As my career took off I decided I wanted a more edgier look. I was a rock star after all. So I headed down to the local tattoo parlor.

“How can I help you?”

“I would like a tattoo.”

“Well you’ve come to the right place. Do you want to look at the design books or do you know what you want?”

“Music is my passion so I would like a Treble Clef surrounded by a swirl of notes flowing along a music staff.”

“Ok, well have a seat and I will get started.”

When he first started I admit I was a bit nervous and couldn’t look.

But soon was curious enough to peak out the corner of my eye. It looked pretty awesome. I may have to get another one someday.

My manager Paul and I started dating.

He would escort me home from the shows and we would usually spend the night together.

But I soon realized I wasn’t really a one man kind of woman. I had missed out on dating while in High School what with being a teen mom. So I was reliving my youth. I went out with the guy from the tattoo parlor and with some of my male fans. I probably shouldn’t admit it but I often didn’t even bother to learn their names.

Guys were always buying me drinks at different clubs I performed at. At one club the bartender offered to teach me how to make a few of his signature drinks.

screenshot-5-143

I started making them at home. I very rarely was without a drink in my hand.

All my drinking and partying made Paul furious.

“EMMA EQUIDAE! WHERE WERE YOU TONIGHT? YOU NEVER SHOWED UP FOR YOUR GIG. I HAD TELL EVERYONE YOU WERE SICK AND REFUND ALL THE TICKETS!”

“Oh, Paul relax. It was just a gig at a local coffee shop. Don’t you think I am beyond those kind of shows now. I mean last night I performed in front of 10,000 people at the event center. That coffee shop draws in what like 50 people. It’s a joke. I have better things to do with my time.

“LIKE WHAT! GET DRUNK AND SLEEP WITH HALF OF STARLIGHT SHORES?!”

His attitude was making me angry and soon we were both shouting at each other. Until finally Paul took a deep breath and said calmly, “Emma, you are an amazing singer but in this business amazing singers are a dime a dozen. I won’t take much for your fans to move on to the next big singer. Clean up your act!”

After that he left.

Well what does he know. My fans love me and will always be loyal. I am having the time of my life. I don’t need to listen to him but I did agree that I probably shouldn’t miss anymore gigs. So while I performed at all my gigs every night I continued to drink and “date” different men each night.

Sometimes I would be so wasted that would be puking my guts out in the bathrooms of clubs, outside in the lawn, or at home in my bathroom. Sometimes I would feel like getting sick in the middle of a show – even if I hadn’t had anything to drink that day.

Turns out some of that was morning sickness. I found out today that I am pregnant. I am not even sure who the father is. Could be Paul’s child or could be anyone of a bunch of random guys I have been with the past several months. Maybe Paul is right and it is time I got my act together.
