While I was surprised to learn I was going to be a father again at age 70 I was still thrilled. I love being a dad.
You would think after having witnessed five previous pregnancies (1. Eve with the triplets, 2. Jackie with Joy, 3. Jackie with Justin, 4. Jackie with Jade, 5. Jackie with the twins) seeing someone go into labor wouldn’t freak me out. But when Jackie went into labor I still panicked.
She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Jennifer whom we call Jenny.
Unfortunately our happiness at Jenny’s birth was dampened when we returned from the hospital to find the grim reaper taking away my buddy Dexter. I had gotten him as a puppy from my aunt Hailey. I loved that little guy and he had been such a comfort to me after my parents died and I found myself in this house all alone. I couldn’t have asked for a more loyal friend.
I will miss him. I had him buried in the back cemetery next to Shadow.
Additionally, things are worse then ever with Jade. She chopped off her hair and dyed it several different colors.
One day I came down and found her taking her baby sister out of the crib and putting her on the floor. I just don’t know what we are going to do with her. Grounding doesn’t seem to do any good. Jackie and I discussed sending her to boarding school or military school but my great-grandparents did that with my grandfather Gavin and he went on to become a con-artist and thief and spend 6 months in jail. So I am not sure that is the answer either.
On a happier note I got a call from my son Justin asking me to stop over.
Turns out his wife Eileen is expecting their first child. I am so excited for them.
Jackie also recently celebrated her birthday and joined me in old age.
Her hair may be gray and she may have some laugh lines around her mouth and eyes but I still think she is as beautiful as the day I married her.
Jade managed to stay out of trouble long enough to be allowed to go to Prom. I hope this is a turning point for her behavior. They all looked wonderful, though Jade would have looked better without all the hair dye. James was named prom king and they all had a blast.
I know I am getting older and I want to make sure my family is always protected even after I am gone. So I am making some upgrades around the house. First I made the stove fireproof. There will no longer be a chance of the food burning and catching fire.
After that I made the fireplace fireproof as well.
Soon it was birthday time again.
Jenny aged into an adorable little girl. She looks so much like Jackie.
Jade is now an adult. Gone is her short mow-hawk. She decided to get extensions and dreadlocks.
I was surprised to see my brother Ian at the party. His wife Gwen had past away the day before. I could tell he was really upset by her passing. A few days later I got a call that Ian had past in his sleep. I will miss my brother but I am glad he is once again with Gwen.
I had hoped that becoming a young adult would improve Jade’s behavior but it has not. She continues to sneak around town.
Spray painting murals on sides of buildings. She calls it art but the cops call it vandalism.
She has also started to lead protests all over town.
The last protest got so heated the cops were called to break it up.
The final straw for Jackie and I where Jade is concerned finally happened. The boys had a game at the school followed by an awards banquet for the seniors and their parents. We figured Jenny was too young to sit through something like that so we asked Jade if she would watch her little sister. Jade decided that since we were going to be out of the house all day she would invite all her guy friends over and have a party.
When we got home later that evening we found Jade making out with some guy in the hot tube.
The house was a mess. Someone broke the sink in the master bathroom and flooded the room.
And worst of all Jenny was screaming her head off. She had a dirty diaper, she hadn’t been feed and she was tired.
I was furious but my first priority had to be taking care of Jenny. I got her cleaned up, feed and put to bed.
Then I went outside and let Jade have it.
“HOW COULD YOU IGNORE YOU SISTER ALL DAY? YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO BE WATCHING HER! YOUR MOTHER AND I HAVE DEALT WITH YOUR ARRESTS AND PAID YOUR FINES FOR THE GRAFFITI. WE FORGAVE YOU FAILING GRADES. BUT THIS IS THE LAST STRAW. YOU ARE AN ADULT AND YOU NEED TO LEARN TO ACT LIKE ONE. IF ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS GOOF AROUND YOU CAN DO IT ELSEWHERE. I WANT YOU OUT OF THIS HOUSE TONIGHT.”
After my confrontation with Jade I took to a walk to blow off some steam and ended up stopping by my son Justin’s house.
And spent a few hours playing with my granddaughter Deena. She is such a cutie.
The next morning while the twins were at school and Jackie was at work I spent the morning teaching Jenny to talk.
Then when Jackie got home she worked with Jenny on walking.
The boys brought my grandson Emilio (Jafar’s son) over after school and the two hung out and played video games.
I took Prairie on a long ride. With Jade out of the house things seemed to calm down. The twins are excelling in school and with their extra curricular activities. Jenny has learned all of her toddler skills. Jackie got promoted at work. And Prairie and I took second place in an International Racing Competition.
Then one morning about 8 months after Jade was kicked out of the house I was coming down stairs when I could have sworn I heard a baby crying.
I glanced out the window and I could have sworn I saw Jade sneaking away from the house.
When I opened the door I found an adorable little boy laying on the front steps. There was a note pinned to his blanket.
Mom and dad,
A few weeks after you kicked me out I discovered I was pregnant. I have no interest in raising a child. I would have given the kid to it’s father but I am not really sure who the father is. I figured leaving him with you was as good a place as any.
There was no mention in the note to his name so keeping with family tradition I named him Keith.
He is a wonderful little boy. I just have no idea what Jackie and I are going to tell him when he is old and asks about his parents.
Shortly after Keith joined the family it was birthday time. I was thrilled to see all of my older kids there (except Jade).
Justin and Eileen surprised everyone with news that they are expecting again.
The party was a huge success.
The twins and Jenny blew out their candles.
And then Eileen went into labor.
Justin took her to the hospital were they welcomed son Tyler to the family.
Jenny grew up into an adorable little girl. She looks so much like her mother.
Jacob is a handsome young man. He joined the Police Department. He eventually wants to work in the lab analyzing DNA.
James also joined the Police Department but he would some day like to be an International Spy.
In case you haven’t already figured it out James will be our heir going into Generation 10. This chapter will mark the end of Generation 9.
