BEEP * BEEP * BEEP
Sounds of sobbing.
I woke up to find myself in a hospital bed hooked up to IVs and machines. I could also hear Spring crying.
“What happened?” I croaked out.
Spring told me that I had been shot and left for dead. Fortunately I had been found by some explorers who went for help. After being stabilized I was flown home and went into immediate surgery.
Spring was thrilled to see me awake and sitting up.
The first time I got out of bed she threw her arms around me and sobbed.
I was shocked to realize that Spring was close to 8 months pregnant. I guess we conceived another baby right before I left. I was gone for several months and then in a coma for a few more.
I also learned that while I was gone Kaden grew up into an active little toddler.
Now that we are home from the hospital Spring is able to work with him on learning to talk, walk and use the potty.
After my near brush with death I am committed to spending more time with my family. My doctor suggested swimming as a way of building up my muscles so we often head to the gym were I swim.
Spring will relax by the pool. She says she is relaxing but I say she is keeping an eye on me while I am in the water.
She also does yoga.
We bring Kaden and set up a potty chair and some toys for him to play with.
After school the kids come over and work out.
I am making sure to show Spring just how wonderful and special she is.
About a month after I got out of the hospital Spring went into labor.
She gave birth to our beautiful baby girl Kaitlyn.
Spring has been enjoying the cookbooks I brought back from Egypt. She has decided not to return to the police force but rather took a job cooking at a local restaurant.
I am so happy to be home and I love spending time with the kids.
I can’t believe I almost missed out on so much of their lives. It is really making me rethink my career goals.
Spring and I have been going out on date nights.
My strength is also returning and I have been practicing martial arts again.
I am also able to resume my full work outs.
Tragically the grim reaper came for Max.
He was a wonderful dog and my heart breaks at his loss. I couldn’t have asked for a more loyal partner.
For Leisure Day I decided to host a pool party. All the kids had off from school and businesses in town were closed. So I invited everyone over for a pool party.
I went down the water slide.
I am not sure I went into the water very gracefully.
The girls had a water balloon fight with Grady’s girls.
And Kevin played basketball with Aric.
We decided to celebrate Kaden’s birthday.
He is a very active little boy who loves sports.
After the party Emilio asked me what my plans were. I told him I didn’t know but that I wanted to stay around here and be with my family. No more international travel. He suggested I get my PI license and consult with the police department.
It is something to think about.
