We are all still devastated by Riley’s death.
But we are trying to cope as best we can. Maurice has been a big comfort for me.
I have been focusing all of my energy on teaching him how to walk, talk and use the potty chair.
Max has taken out his grief in his art work and has created some brilliant masterpieces.
He also spends time with his girlfriend Lara. They recently attended Prom together.
Michael has been working out.
And studying martial arts.
He has also started dating a lovely girl named Hollie.
Michael’s mother has been coming by to visit more. I know Michael is happy to see her.
Over the next several months we spent a lot of time together. She helped me with the garden.
Joined us on an outing to the beach.
She joins us for meals.
She came to birthday parties.
Murray and Marie are now teenagers.
It is sometimes hard for me to look at Marie as she is the spitting image of her mother. I miss Riley so much.
Maurice is going to be starting school.
Life just continues to go on. I fix stuff around the house, spend time with the kinds and go to work. I have received two more promotions and am now a Top Secret Researcher. I am only one promotion away from my dream of becoming a Creature-Robot Cross Breeder but it all seems so meaningless without Riley. I miss her so much.
Through my government contacts at work I learned about this top secret device called the Philosopher’s Stone. I have been reading up on it and I guess it can be used to bind a ghost to someone. I am desperate to find a way to bring Riley back to life.
I visited a store that specializes in elixirs and potions.
I read through a big book that they had there and quickly learned how to make a few different elixirs. I spent years at my chemistry table trying to find the potion I needed to make Riley real. I am sure I can find the elixir I need to bring her back to life.
I bought my own Alchemy station and set it up in the garage.
I have been trying them on myself. My favorite is one that gives me a job performance boost. It seems to help me be more productive at work which helps me earn promotions.
For Max’s birthday I had pool party.
Max invited Lara and Michael asked if Hollie could attend. I also invited Vabbilhea as well as Lily and her kids. All of her kids are now young adults.
I was especially surprised to see that my niece Matilda is pregnant. I guess she has been seeing Tristian Dowd. Tristian’s mother Alana and Lily have been best friends since they were kids. There is a big age difference between he and Matilda but they don’t seem to care. Lily and Alana are both thrilled that they are going to have a grandchild to spoil. I can’t believe me sister is going to be a grandmother. It is crazy how fast time seems to go by.
Max is now a young adult and he wants to follow in my footsteps and study science.
The next day we went to town for Max’s graduation.
I am so proud of him.
After the graduation ceremony he asked his girlfriend Lara to marry him.
She said yes. They changed into their formal attire and got married right then and there at the court house. After the wedding they moved in with Lara’s parents.
After the wedding I took the kids to the summer festival. Michael, Marie, and Maurice participated in a hot dog eating contest.
Michael was hands down the winner. Must be that alien metabolism.
We did some fishing.
Marie got a spray tan.
Michael and Maurice played soccer.
The kids had a water balloon fight.
It was late when we got home and the kids were exhausted and headed straight for bed. Not needing sleep Michael went into the garage to practice his martial arts.
Michael’s mom Vabbilhea had joined us for the day. “Thanks for letting me tag along,” she said. “I enjoy spending time with Michael and the rest of your family.”
Before I could respond she grabbed me and kissed me.
Even though I have a house full of kids I have been so lonely since Riley died. I kissed her back.
Things quickly escalated, clothes were coming off and we were stumbling into the bed where we spent several hours Woohooing.
About a month later she came over and announced that she was pregnant.
I can’t believe we are having another baby together. Only this time she is the one pregnant.
I don’t love Vabbilhea but she is nice enough and seems to be a good mom to Michael. Plus I already love this baby so I asked her to move in with us and she said yes.
Before she moved in Vabbilhea spent a lot of time with us as a family. But now that she is living here it is like she wants nothing to do with anyone but Michael or myself – she doesn’t even sit and eat with us at meal times anymore. I keep telling myself it is just the pregnancy hormones that have her acting so different.
When Marie reached out to feel the baby Vabbilhea freaked out and started screaming at her.
Poor Marie looked so scared.
Even Michael didn’t seem happy having his mother there.
“I miss mom,” he said to me one day.
“Your mother is in the other room,” I said. “I am sure she would love if you went in and talked to her.”
“I know Vabbilhea is my biological mother but I mean Riley. She was my “real” mom. She is the one that raised me. I wish she was still here.”
“Mom,” he said referencing Riley, “always told me I could be anything I want to be. And I want to be an athlete. But Vabbilhea said that is not good enough for her son. She also wants me to dump Hollie. She said she has an alien girl back on the home planet that will be my wife. I love Hollie.”
I pulled him for a comforting hug and promised him I would not allow Vabbilhea to force him into a career or girlfriend he didn’t want.
One day Vabbilhea was reading.
When suddenly she put down her book and called for me. I came running and could tell she was in pain.
She was in labor. I raced her to the hospital.
She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Mae after Mae Carol Jemison an astronaut and physician.
Having a baby in the house has been wonderful but I feel guilty because every time I hold Mae I keep wishing Riley was her mother. I miss Riley so much.
Marie loves her baby sister and will spend a good part of each day playing with her. In fact Marie acts more like a mother to Mae than Vabbilhea does. It is like she wants nothing to do with the child.
I reached my dream of becoming a Creature-Robot Cross Breeder so I decided to take some time off work to focus on my Alchemy studies.
I have been learning different elixirs and often have to go buy specialized ingredients.
I also harvest and gather ingredients that I find in my yard or around town. A lot of the elixirs call for Red Valerian Root, Wolfsbane, Mandrake Root and various types of mushrooms. I cleaned out the garden and planted only those plants.
I invented a drilling machine that lets me drill down deep into the ground looking for different gems and minerals. The only problem is leaves huge holes in yard.
One particular elixir called for a special fish that can only be found at night in the lake at the cemetery. It was really creepy fishing in the cemetery at night but I caught the fish that I needed.
I mix the ingredients and hope it all comes out right. I have had a few misses that were so bad he fumes made me sick.
I try a lot of the elixirs on myself. So far I haven’t tried anything too dangerous. I mainly stick to job performance boosts, ones that give me more energy or help me to learn skills faster.
Vabbilhea is not happy that I am researching ways to bring Riley back to life.
After one particular fight I was shocked when she said, “UGG I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU ARE STILL SO HUNG UP ON RILEY. SHE DIDN’T DESERVE YOU. I KNEW THE MINUTE THAT I ABDUCTED YOU THAT YOU WERE SPECIAL. WITH YOUR SCIENTIFIC MIND WE COULD HAVE RULED THE WORLD TOGETHER. SHE AND ALL OF THESE KIDS WERE HOLDING YOU BACK. I DID YOU AND THE WORLD A FAVOR BY DROPPING THAT METEOR ON HER.”
I was shocked by what I had just heard her say. Did she just admit to killing Riley? Before I could respond I heard someone else holler from across the room.
“YOU DID WHAT?” Michael shouted. I guess he had walked in on us and heard the whole thing.
“Michael, honey let me explain,” she said.
“NO I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT,” he shouted.
“I MAY SHARE YOUR DNA BUT RILEY WAS MY MOM. I LOVED HER AND YOU TOOK HER FROM US.”
“I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN,” he shouted.
Before storming off.
Hearing that Vabbilhea killed Riley caused something in me to snap and I had a bit of a mental breakdown. I grabbed one of my elixirs and threw it at Vabbilhea knocking her out.
I took Vabbilhea out to the barn and locked her in cage. I am not proud of what happened next but I was at a bad place in my life and I just snapped.
I started testing elixirs on her. One caused her to be swarmed by angry bees.
One left her throwing up and another caused her to feel melancholy.
I turned her into a tragic clone which only lasted for about 24 hours before she turned back to normal.
Then because I am Creature-Robot Cross Breeder I started creating various cross-breeds using the elixirs I had created. I turned her into a robot and then turned her back.
I turned her into a zombie.
And a werewolf.
Hearing her howl at the moon was really freaky. I also turned her into a vampire.
And a fairy.
After turning her into a new type of creature I would use a potent cure elixir to change her back.
I used an aging elixir to turn her into an old woman.
And then I turned her into a genie. I had hoped I could wish for her to bring Riley back as I thought there would be nothing she would hate more but I couldn’t figure out how to make wishes.
I wanted to turn her into a mummy but that requires special ingredients only found in Egypt. I thought about asking mom and dad to send me some but figured they wouldn’t approve of what I am doing.
Finally I decided that Vabbilhea had enough. I used the communication’s system in her space craft to contact her home planet. I explained that she had killed my wife. They are a peaceful planet and were very upset that she would do something like that. She was arrested and returned to her home planet where she will spend the rest of her life in jail. And thanks to my aging elixir those days are numbered.
I was so consumed with getting my revenge on Vabbilhea that I missed so much of my kids lives during the last year. Marie has become a very accomplished dancer. I was ashamed of myself for missing her big recital.
All the kids are doing really well in school and are getting straight A’s — no thanks to me. I know Riley would be proud of them and probably disappointed in me.
Mom and dad had both come home for Mae’s birthday. During the party mom announced that they were home for good and they were going to move in to help me with the kids. I am thrilled to have them back home and committed to being a better father.
